From Zero to Hero: Your 1-Month Class 10 Comeback!

Finally, you have arrived at the end of this academic year where we have approximately 1 month for the CBSE Class 10 2023-24 Board Exams. This is the time when you need to prepare any leftover topics and most importantly revise whatever you have studied throughout the year. Now I know that most of you would be worrying about questions like:

  • What should be my last month's strategy?
  • How much time should I give to Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English Literature, etc.?
  • How many hours should I study daily?
  • What should be my daily study routine?
  • And many more questions like this.

But you do not need to worry too much. Just try to follow the things that I am going to share.

First of all, broadly there are three categories of students.

  1. Advanced: This means one who has studied throughout the year and has covered the complete syllabus of class 10.
  2. Mediocre: This means one who is in the average category. He/she has completed 60-80% syllabus. He is confused about what to do next. Should he focus on sample papers or complete the remaining syllabus or revise the old chapters?
  3. Beginner: They are those who have not studied anything in class 10. They do not even know the syllabus. But they want to score 90%+ in their class 10 examination.

So, accordingly, I will be sharing different strategies for different categories. Please read the heading to which category you belong.

Strategy for Advanced Students

For them the strategy is simple. As you have already completed the syllabus, your main aim should be to revise the chapters as much as possible. Along with revision, you should practice CBSE PYQs and Sample Papers (especially the CBSE 2023-24 Official Sample Paper). By doing this you will get an idea of what will be the pattern of question papers in this year's board exam.

The next point that you need to keep in mind is practicing mathematics daily. This is very important. Because you can ace mathematics only through practice. No matter how well you know the theorems and concepts, you need to practice them to perform well in this paper.

Now, you might be thinking about how to do the revision and what should be the daily study schedule. I will share a timetable here. You can customize it according to your needs.

Time Task Importance
6 am - 8 am Wake up → Drink Water → Toilet → Brush → Deep Breathing → Breakfast. This will prepare your body and mind to work efficiently for the whole day.
8 am - 11 am

One day Science, the other day Social Science

(Do a comprehensive revision of 1 chapter + PYQs)

Take a short break
11:30 am - 12:30 pm Cover English 1 chapter and Cover 1 Grammar topic and other day write letter/article etc.
01:00 pm - 04:00 pm Bath → Lunch → Sleep Sleep is very important at this time because you will be very much tired after studying from 8 am - 12 pm. Sleep will revive you. It will be like you are starting a new day.
04:00 pm - 06:00 pm Mathematics Practice Practice any one chapter daily.
Take a short break
06:30 pm - 09:30 pm One day do a sample paper, the other day check your answers and cover your weak topics.
09:30 pm - 10:00 pm  Have Dinner
10:00 pm - 11:00 pm Revise Hindi/IT/Computer Application (Daily one chapter)

Keep studying like this and you will be a pro till the board exams.

Strategy for Mediocre Students

You have covered 60-80% syllabus and students in this category are the most confused. But no worries, here I will try to provide you with a systematic plan of study. But before giving you a detailed plan, here are some basic but most important tips for you:

  1. Practice Maths Daily: No matter what you have studied and what not, make sure you at least 2 hours daily to mathematics.
  2. Revision: Revision is the most important for students in this category. Because, quite often students in a rush to cover the entire syllabus, forget to revise the old chapters. And they end up with a lot of stress and poor performance on the examination day.
  3. Avoid Social Media: Students of this category waste a lot of their time watching YouTube strategy videos. And YouTuber-cum-teachers in pursuit of views do care about anything students' future.
  4. You can get Class 10 Notes and Important Questions here.

Strategy for Beginner Students

It's understandable to feel stressed if you haven't prepared for the CBSE Class 10 board exams yet, but it's important to stay calm and take a strategic approach to your studies. Here are a few steps you can take:

  1. First, take a look at the syllabus of each subject. Note down/Mark the chapters that are coming in CBSE 2022-23 Board exams.
  2. For you NCERT is Bible. Don't touch anything else except NCERTs.
  3. Practice Maths Daily. First, start with easy and scoring chapters. My Recommended order is Real Numbers Polynomials, Quadratic Equations, Arithmetic Progressions, Coordinate Geometry, Statistics, Probability, Thales Theorem in Triangles chapter, Circles, Areas Related to Circles, etc.
  4. You can cover detailed NCERT Explanation of English, Maths, Science, and Social Science on my YouTube Channel.
  5. You can get Class 10 Notes and Important Questions here.

Just keep in mind that you have to cover as many chapters as possible. And do not try yourself on sample papers/R.D. Sharma/R.S.Agarwal books. Just stick to NCERTs for now.

Remember, it's never too late to start studying. With dedication and hard work, you can still do well on the exams. Good luck!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

Is 1 month enough to study for board exams?

It depends on you and your goal. If you can study consistently and your goal is to achieve approx. 80%, then this can be done in one month, provided you follow the tips I have shared for beginners. But scoring 90% and above requires previous knowledge. You cannot start from scratch and score 90% in one month in CBSE Class 10 2023 board exam.

How can I score more than 90 percent in the Class 10 CBSE board exam 2024?

Scoring more than 90 % in CBSE Class 10 board exam is not a big deal nowadays. Any student who has covered just NCERTs and Practised CBSE PYQs, has a fairly high chance of scoring more than 90 percent in the board exam. Depending on your preparation level, I have shared a detailed strategy above.

Does CBSE pass all students of class 10?

Generally, the CBSE board tries to give passing marks to most of the students. But you need to write at least some relevant materials in your answer sheet. You can't expect CBSE to provide you with passing marks by leaving the answer sheet blank. Any student with little common sense can score decent marks in the class 10 board exam.

How many minimum marks do I need to score to clear the CBSE 2024 Class 10 board exam?

In order to be declared as having passed the examination, a candidate shall
obtain a grade higher than E (i.e. at least 33% marks) in all the five subjects of external examination in the main or at the compartmental examinations. The pass marks in each subject of external examination shall be 33%.
