21. a. During muscle cramps, athletes often experience anaerobic respiration. This type of respiration occurs when oxygen supply to muscles is insufficient, leading to the incomplete breakdown of glucose, resulting in the production of lactic acid. Unlike aerobic respiration, anaerobic respiration doesn't require oxygen and is less efficient, leading to the buildup of lactic acid and causing muscle fatigue and cramps.

22. a. -COOH, Carboxylic acid. Name is Ethanoic acid.

b. -CO-, Aldehyde. Name is Methanal.

During meiosis, a type of cell division, specialized cells called gametes (sperm and egg cells) are produced, each containing half the number of chromosomes as the parent cells, ensuring the maintenance of the chromosome number in the progeny.

25. The power of a lens is defined as the reciprocal of its focal length.

P = 100/50= 2 D

27. a. Hypermetropia.

Causes of hypermetropia:

  1. The focal length of the eye lens is too long.
